Nicki and Kim Hwee SDE // Singapore

This will be the first of two overseas posts. Yes, my lenses have been jet setting this month. I take you now to Singapore.

As magnificent as the city’s landscapes is the depth of culture that we have witnessed. Thanks to Nicki and Kim for the wholehearted trust, making me and my team the only Filipinos in their midst on that day. No matter how modern everything in Singapore looks, what makes one feel at home is the sense of family which we felt the strongest during the wedding day ritual. The wedding tea ceremony is a way of expressing gratitude to the couple’s parents and elders. According to Wikipedia, it is a way of saying, “Thank you for bringing us up. Now we are getting married. We owe it all to you.” The parents will usually drink a small portion of the tea and then give them a red envelope, which symbolizes good luck. It is also a way of bringing both families together, with the couple serving the tea.

Love in any language, is still love. That is something we definitely saw on Nicki and Kim’s wedding day. Congratulations!
