What’s the temperature today, you say? I forgot how hot it was when we shot the footages for Henry and Cherie’s wedding. It was cool, I mean, perfect. Perfect moments are made of these – bright sun, relaxing breeze, clear sky, and even a calm sea. And completing the equation is our happy couple.

Henry and Cherie were the epitome of coolness, especially with their sunshiny attitude. How did they stay that way, despite the heat and the mixed emotions that usually preoccupy the bride and groom? They just kept smiling! I guess that’s one effective way to beat the summer heat. Thanks to both of you, our work seem like child’s play.

In a way, this sums up my cousin Derric’s love story. While it is true that Derric and Joanne are no spring chickens in the arena of love, they have both looked forward to their altar date here in the Philippines. They have been blessed with four children and are happily settled in the United States. But as we all know, and I think it is something we should take pride in, weddings are more fun in the Philippines, right?

So how do we explain this kind of love? No definitions or boundaries would suffice. It is simply a love that inspires because it knows how to withstand the challenges of time.

I have heard this statement countless of times, “Gusto namin maganda ang same day edit video namin.” As a wedding filmmakers  for many years, the statement is music to my ears. For who else will I partner with to make a beautiful and memorable video? No other than you, the bride and groom. While it is true that I am the one behind the lenses, you create the moments. After all, it is your day.

Do not let your wedding video be part of your day’s jitters. Trust me, you already have a lot of things on your mind, come your altar date. Here are my most common suggestions:

1. Tell me what you have in mind. Let’s lay expectations on the table. I promise not to tell anyone if you are planning a surprise. It would help me to know so that I can catch your impromptu moments.
2. If you are into it, I suggest you make your own vows. It doesn’t matter if you are reading it or memorized it, as long as it is coming from the heart. I’ll do my darnedest best to catch all your emotions. Remember, those vows will be said for the first and only time before the altar but will forever be etched in your memory.
3. The bridal march is truly one of the most anticipated highlights of a wedding. For the brides, it is the last time you’ll walk as a single lady. So before the groom puts a ring on your finger, make it your moment. Choose a song that you will walk with from the door to the altar, preferably a song on violin.
4. Enjoin your family and friends in the preparation. Having them around while you are dressing up and having your makeup done breaks the ice. On such a special day, you are in good hands when you have good company.

But if you must all know, Flexibility is my middle name. So when my bride and groom, Vina and Goldwin, decided to break conventions, I was game. They told me the song they want. They did not have their personalized wedding vows, since their church, San Agustin Church, does not allow for such. Vina did not get out of a bridal car but chose to walk from her hotel to the church’s doorsteps. And who helped the groom dressed up? The bride!  It turned out that the groom’s “best man” is no other than his “best and only woman.”

Goldwin’s and Vina’s wedding takes the Filipiniana theme to the next level. Our best wishes!
